What is Google Analytics ? how to implement GA on website?

Google Analytics is a web analytics tool offered by Google to help us analyze our website's performance and traffic. It is a free tool that can help us track our digital marketing effectiveness. This tool provides us a full picture of how our site is performing and it collects a vast amount of data and processes it intelligently. It then generates reports to display that data to us. Those reports give us critical insight into our site and the people who visit it.

How Google Analytics Work?

We have to put tracking code of google analytics into the code of our website. This code records various activities of our users when they visit our website. It then sends all that information to the Google Analytics server once the user exits our website.

Setting up Google Analytics and generating tracking code

Here are steps to do this:

First login on google analytics site and click on 'start measuring' button.

After clicking 'start measuring' button you will see this page and here you will create your account for your website whose tracking code you want.  Give name to your account and customize 'account data sharing settings' as required, then click 'next'.

Now you will arrive to 'Property setup', Here create your property, give it time zone and currency according to your country and then click to 'show advanced options'.

Here we will create Universal analytics property for our website. Give your website's url then click 'next'.

Then you will reach to 'About your business' page and here you can fill details according to your business and its requirements for which it want to use GA. After this, click 'create button'.

Now you will see 'Google Analytics Terms of Service Agreement' you have to read and accept it.

Now you will see page like this, if not then you can go to admin and there you will find it. Here you see 'Tracking Info' click on it then 'tracking code'

Here you can see your tracking id and below it is your GA tracking code. So, Now copy and  paste this code in head section of your website and then you can come back to google analytics page and here in overview you can check overall activities happening in your site .

Many different reports options are available to see activities on our site like 'Real-time' here it shows how many users are using our website live and all the activities they are doing right now. Isn't it interesting to know about?
